Creating individual brand communication solutions

January 2007

Sterling’s first year in its new premises at Kettering Venture Park has seen a number of significant achievements. These include a major two year contract as RICS’ retained design agency, securing ISO 14001 accreditation at the end of November 2006 and the recent completion of a significant investment programme.

The recent acquisition of ‘the world’s most advanced digital press’ along with state of the art mailing and personalisation equipment means that Sterling can now offer  clients a genuine in-house, end to end service, from design to printing, inserting and fulfilment.  In addition, Sterling has just installed the most progressive computer to plate technology available, allied to a brand new colour control system linked to all of its presses.

Chris Timm, Sterling’s marketing director says; ‘Our new HP Indigo 5000 press boosts Sterling’s existing colour and mono digital print capabilities and provides an exciting range of new production options for short run, high quality work, including the latest variable data software. Unique liquid ink technology produces lithographic quality sheets, up to 5 colours and on stocks ranging from 80gsm – 350gsm’.

Timm continues; ‘As a creative communication and print production business, we’ve got extensive experience of producing high quality design primarily for promotional print, display and mass mailing purposes. This new press means we can also provide clients with far more creative and highly targeted campaigns, incorporating really effective personalisation.’

Sterling is helping clients, such as Nationwide, NatWest and RS Components spend their direct marketing budgets more effectively, in the knowledge that they have the technical expertise and the right equipment to help their clients achieve this.

Timm is convinced that over the coming months Sterling will continue to see a decrease in mass mailings and a significant increase in smaller, targeted campaigns using the full array of variable data software and high quality colour digital print now at its disposal;

‘It makes sense because this is a much more effective use of marketing spend, allowing you to test creative concepts on specific data segments and then tailor offers depending on response rates.’
