Our commitment to the environment

We’re passionate about being one of the UK’s most environmentally responsible communications businesses. Everything we do is underpinned by a steadfast commitment to reducing our environmental impact.

Vegetable inks

We only use 100% vegetable based inks in our production.

Solar panels

We have 208 solar panels on the roof of our production facilities which means we now generate 40,000 kWh electricity and produce 20 tonnes less CO2 emissions a year.

Plastic waste and
direct mail

Our in-house research & development team are working with our clients to showcase and develop plastic-free alternatives for their direct mail jobs. Email us if you want to learn how you can reduce your single-use plastics.

How we've been reducing our energy usage

  • 15% reduction in water used per 1,000 printed sheets produced.
  • 79% reduction in the chemicals used during the plate making process.
  • 10% reduction in electricity used per 1,000 printed sheets produced.
  • 24% of Sterling’s space heating is recovered from the heat generated by the water circulation in our presses.

Committed to zero waste to landfill

All our waste is minimised and sorted for recycling. In 2018, 98.36% of our waste was recycled. We’re working tirelessly with our suppliers to bring this down.

As part of our complete service offering from conception, to production through to storage and fulfillment, we also offer our own comprehensive waste recycling service. We can deal with any obsolete printed products you may have through our end to end waste management system even if we haven’t produced it. Please speak with any of our account management team or email us at recycle@sterlingsolutions.co.uk for further details.
